Atul Grover, MD, PhD is a visiting scholar at Stanford and founder of Academic Health, a Washington–based health policy and strategy consultancy. He was the founding executive director of the Research and Action Institute at the AAMC and, over two decades there, served as Executive Vice President and Chief Public Policy Officer and was a leading voice for academic medicine during passage of the Affordable Care Act. He helped coordinate the federal response to Ebola in 2014 and contributed to the establishment of national and regional training and response centers. A general internist and health services researcher, he is Clinical Professor of Medicine at George Washington University and faculty in Health Policy and Management at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. A national expert on the health workforce, he previously served as Chief Medical Officer at HRSA’s National Center for Health Workforce Analysis and has advised federal policymakers and academic health leaders. He is immediate past president of Alpha Omega Alpha, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Chest Physicians, and received an honorary Doctor of Laws from Wayne State University.
